The Blue Oak Ranch Reserve is an ideal site for University-level class visits and offers a diversity of environments and habitats that can demonstrate ecology, conservation, systematics, soils, geology, and physical science topics, all readily accessed by a 15-mile network of ranch roads. Modern classroom spaces are available for instruction, as well as housing for field classes staying for a night or more. There is no charge for day-use visits that do not use classroom facilities. Indoor and outdoor facilities appropriate for instruction include a large multi-purpose room in the Cedar Barn that can accommodate up to 50 people, a 24 seat classroom, outdoor covered seating, and a small conference space for meetings of up to 8 persons in our administrative office. All spaces have high-speed wireless Internet access via the UCSC campus network, digital projectors, wall screens, and chalkboards.
